Welcome Message From Your PTA President
For the past 4 years, I have dedicated my time to Millbrae schools and I am excited to be serving the next 2 years about your President. When my son Quincy was in TK at Meadows, I got to see first hand what a strong PTA looked like - stay at home parents and working families partnering with teachings and school staff side by side. Meadows became the model for what a strong school community looked like and how important it would be for Quincy to go to his neighborhood school and grow up with kids in his immediate neighborhood. I knew that I wanted to contribute by being a part of the PTA and was elected Historian that first year. I was then elected Volunteer Coordinator the following year, and this past year I continued to serve as the co-Volunteer Coordinator. I know first hand what the PTA does for Green Hills and how hard our parent volunteers work for our school. The PTA does more than fundraise to provide supplies for teachers at the beginning of every year. Your membership and contributions help support the work of the teachers to provide strong education that will help prepare our kids to have happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
I look forward to serving you and our community by being a strong leader at the district level representing the interests of Green Hills, a compassionate leader for the PTA board that seeks to understand the wants and needs of our families, teachers, and staff, and a caring parent and human being, who like you, has a growing child at Green Hills and a family in the Millbrae community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your PTA President. If you have any ideas you’d like to share, don’t hesitate to email me at email@example.com.
PTA vs MEF
Green Hills PTA is specific to Green Hills Elementary School. The PTA provides support specific to the school such as field trips, assemblies, events, equipment and to promote an excellent learning environment.
MEF (Millbrae Educational Foundation) funds district wide programs and recruits teachers for all five of Millbrae’s schools (four elementary schools and one middle school). For example, last year, MEF raised enough funds to hire a technology teacher and a music teacher who are shared among the schools.
Please support both organizations as both are equally important to ensure our children receive a 21st century education. Visit MEF’s website to learn more.
